Sport kite

A sport kite, sometimes referred to as a “stunt kite”, is designed to perform intricate maneuvers. Much like dance or figure skating, kite competitions require “pilots” to perform both compulsory and interpretative routines. Competitions are held in solo and team configurations.

The most common type of sport kite is roughly triangular in shape and is made from nylon or polyester. In most configurations, there are two lines attached to the kite which are used to control the actions of the kite. The pilot can use combinations of movements to make the kite do quite complex maneuvers.

A sport kite can range in price, depending on the specifics of its design. Most beginners’ kites can be found for under 100 dollars. However, competition quality kites can often cost several hundred dollars or more.
