Diamond kite

A diamond kite is probably the most recognizable type of kite in existence. They are the ideal design for beginning pilots due to their stability and predictable flight characteristics. These kites are extremely easy to make, which may play a part in their popularity.

A diamond kite gets is name from the overall shape of the kit itself. The basic design calls for two sticks, arranged in a “cross pattern”. A diamond-shaped piece of material is then attached to this framework.

A diamond kite can be made to be quite large, or small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. The smaller kites can often be the most fun to fly due to the novelty of their size. However, true kiting enthusiasts appreciate a large design.
